Chime — a virtual wind chime
Chime hangs a row of metal tubes from a crossbar in the dark. Each tube is tuned to a note in a pentatonic minor scale (so any combination sounds in tune). Click a tube to strike it. Drag horizontally to send a breeze through them. Pick a color palette and toggle Auto Wind for an ambient garden ring.
How to play
Tap to start the audio. Click any tube to ring it. Drag across the canvas to simulate wind: tubes start swinging on their own and produce overlapping notes. Adjust the chime count from 5 to 13, choose a color palette (rainbow, warm gold, cool blue, rose dusk, mint sea), and toggle Auto Wind to let an ambient breeze keep things ringing.
Why it's satisfying
Wind chimes have been calming people for two thousand years. The pentatonic tuning means there are no wrong combinations, and the metallic decay of each tone has the brain-soothing quality of natural ambient sound.
