Burger — stack it high

Burger is a burger maker game with no recipe, no customer and no clock. A warm board, a soft bun and a row of ingredients: patties, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion rings, pickles, bacon, fried eggs and a sesame top bun. Everything you drop lands with a squash and a bounce, and the whole stack wobbles like jelly before it settles. Cheese slowly melts and droops over the edges, sauces drip down the sides and ooze out between the layers. Make it reasonable, or make it absurd.

How to play

Pick an ingredient in the bar, then tap anywhere: it falls from the sky onto the stack. Everything can be grabbed: catch an ingredient in mid-air, pull a layer out of the burger (the ones above drop down), slide it back in somewhere else, or throw it off the board. Pick ketchup, mustard, mayo or BBQ sauce and press: the bottle pours real drops that fall, stretch and splat where they land, so moving your hand fast flings the sauce in an arc. Press on the burger and drag down to squish it, then let go and it springs back. Stack! drops a whole random burger in one go, Eat calls a crowd of tiny critters that run in and nibble it away bite by bite, PNG saves your creation.

Why it's satisfying

Every layer has weight: a little squash on impact, a jiggle that travels up the tower, crumbs and sesame seeds bouncing on the board, a note that climbs higher with each layer. Nothing can go wrong, nothing is scored, the burger can only get bigger and messier. It is the pleasure of building with food, without the washing up.
